Do you Know Yourself?

The first thing I do when coaching professionals around their career is to help them get clear on their values, life purpose, interests, strengths, experiences, and skill set. This phase of the coaching process is designed to help people get clear on who they are and what makes them come alive and sets the foundation for the rest of the coaching experience.

Not only do I think it's important to know who you are and what makes you come alive, I think it's also crucial to know and understand your fear patterns, how you handle stress, what your triggers are, and how to take care of your emotional, physical, and spiritual needs.

Why is all of this so important?

It's important because it sets the foundation of our lives, as well as the rest of the coaching experience. You see, all the decisions that are made and actions that are taken later on come from this place of knowing. Just like a house or any other structure, if the foundation is not solid, the house or structure will not last. This is especially true when adverse weather conditions arise or when unforeseen stress is placed on the house or structure.

The same is true with our lives. If we don't have a solid foundation of knowing, then all of the work and effort that is exerted to build the structure of our lives is at risk of crumbling. Additionally, if this foundation is not strong then it is hard to keep momentum and persevere when we hit roadblocks or come up against obstacles.

Essentially, what I'm recommending is for you to know yourself better than anyone else knows you.

You are in charge of your life and have ultimate responsibility for the end product. What are you on track to deliver?

Today, I offer you to consider taking time to get to know yourself. Check in with yourself and ask yourself the very questions you might ask a friend or acquaintance. Discover who you are and what makes you come alive in the world.

In Ultimate Support of You!
