My husband and I are getting a second vehicle.
It feels like a pretty big deal.
We’ve shared one vehicle for the past 20 months.
It was a decision we made to downsize.
What could we cut out of our lives?
What was unnecessary?
Yes… what could we do without?
After having grown accustomed to a certain lifestyle with two substantial sources of income, we went down to one steady source of income and so we knew we needed to make some changes.
At the time, it felt very liberating.
It felt empowering to simplify our lives and let some things go.
It felt necessary in the rebuilding that was about to happen, both in my life individually as well as our lives together.
It felt restorative and cleansing.
There is something powerful to me about starting with a blank slate and adding what I need (and want😍) from there.
Something about simplifying my life down to the necessities always helps me to clear my mind and re-focus on what’s most important.
I can’t think with a bunch of clutter.
I decluttered my life metaphorically speaking and have slowly been adding things back as I need them.
It has been a really interesting and eye opening process.
I’ve really enjoyed letting go of things and only adding back the things that really make me happy.
And... a car wasn’t one of those things.
Until it was again ☺️.
Yes… I’m really looking forward to adding back another option for transportation.
I’m looking forward to being able to go where I want, when I want to.
There is a lot of planning that goes into sharing another vehicle with someone😉.
I think I’m really going to value the freedom it will offer both of us.
I feel like I have a renewed appreciation for this something new we are adding back.
How about you?
What are some of the benefits you’ve experienced from simplifying your life?
What has opened up for you as a result?
Here’s to simplifying for the sake of opening up to something new!
